Our Plans and Our Future

Why should this one small mistake derail our entire future?

One risk in performing ultrasounds is that they sometimes reveal more than you really want to know.

When Jamie and Melissa* came to the Pregnancy Resource Center, they had plans to terminate their pregnancy. Then the scan revealed their child had spina bifida! Arming them with this knowledge, it was likely the ultrasound would only serve to solidify their intentions.

The free ultrasound brought them to the PRC, yet they entered our doors with really only one choice in mind: abortion.

Like many of our clients, Jamie and Melissa had plans of their own. The free ultrasound brought them to the PRC, yet they entered our doors with really only one choice in mind: abortion. For them it was a logical, quick, and practical solution to their situation. “After all,” they reasoned, “Our parents made sacrifices, too; sacrifices that brought them educational and professional opportunities…Why should this one small mistake derail our entire future?”

Only a doctor can make a diagnosis; that is not the job of an ultrasound technician. But, after performing the scan, Anne, quietly troubled by what she had seen on the screen, began to silently pray that the life of this little one would be spared.

God moved them from seeing their child as a barrier to a prosperous future, to the truth that they were already parents and their baby desperately needed their help!

In a short time, the PRC’s medical director was apprised of the situation. He read the film and then sat down with Jamie and Melissa to deliver the news. To his relief, he found that upon hearing their child was in trouble, the God of all compassion transformed Jamie’s and Melissa’s hearts, turning their thoughts toward saving the life of their unborn child, rather than ending it!

The PRC was able to refer Jamie and Melissa to a specialist who performed surgery on their baby in the womb. The procedure was successful and before long, Melissa gave birth to a perfectly healthy baby, whom they named Matthew.*

Later that year, Jamie and Melissa came to the PRC to testify to the truth of God’s care for His little ones – before and after they are born! Together we praised God for these changed hearts and for the rescued life of baby Matthew!

Since our founding 30 years ago, the PRC has witnessed more than 3,400 lives saved from abortion – equal to a standing-room-only concert crowd at Sunshine Community Church!

And we praise God for you, too. It is because of your continued partnership that the PRC is here in this community speaking out for all the little “Matthews” in the womb who otherwise have no voice.
