God’s Undeniable Nudge

Have you ever felt an undeniable “nudge” from God?

Recently, Hilary, one of the PRC’s ultrasound techs felt that nudge – in the middle of the night! His whisper awakened her, but it was clear: “Go into the PRC two hours early today.”

Have you ever felt an undeniable “nudge” from God?

Obediently, Hilary arrived for her shift ahead of schedule.

A relieved staff member greeted Hilary. “I’m glad you’re here. A few minutes ago, a couple seeking an abortion arrived; they’re with a counselor right now.”

Although not the PRC’s normal practice, Hillary slipped a message under the counseling room door. “I’m here in case an ultrasound is needed.”

When our counselor saw the paper, she thanked God for His intervention and apologized to Kevin* and Megan* for the interruption.

Because educational and career goals didn’t include a baby, abortion was the obvious answer to their “problem,” they said.

Just prior to Hilary’s note appearing, Kevin and Megan revealed their pragmatic plans. Because educational and career goals didn’t include a baby, abortion was the obvious answer to their “problem,” they said. Kevin needed to leave soon for his afternoon college class and Megan was equally straight-forward.

They expressed openness to an ultrasound but they didn’t have time to come back in two hours during the PRC’s scheduled ultrasound shift. If an ultrasound didn’t happen now, it likely wouldn’t happen at all.

Our staff member beamed as she handed Hilary’s note to Kevin and Megan. “I think God really wants you to see your baby – our ultrasound tech is here two hours early. We can do an ultrasound right now, if that works.” Kevin and Megan gave an easy “yes.”

In the ultrasound suite, Hilary waited patiently and prayed, “Lord, please allow this baby to be active and lively.”

When the scan began, Kevin and Megan’s baby jumped and turned summersaults as if to say, “Here I am! Take care of me! Love me!”

Megan gasped at the sight. “That’s a baby; that’s my baby!” It was all too obvious. Barry leaned down close to Megan in a quiet and broken voice, “That’s not just tissue…that’s our baby.”

When the scan began, Kevin and Megan’s baby jumped and turned summersaults as if to say, “Here I am! Take care of me! Love me!”

Kevin missed his class that day. He realized he was a father now and priorities needed shifting as he embraced this new role. Kevin stepped into manhood, supporting Megan and protecting his child.

And Megan left that day softened. She recognized her hopes and dreams for college completion might need to be delayed a few months. She chose to examine her heart and refresh her relationship with God, walking a path of love for her baby who needed her right now.

We praise God for Hilary who responded to God’s nudge. Those two hours made the difference between life and death. Her obedience gave a life-saving opportunity to three people: Kevin, Megan, and their baby.

Your partnership with the PRC makes a life-saving difference, too! We depend on the generous support of our local community to provide ultrasounds, pregnancy tests, STD/STI testing and treatment, material support, and our sexual risk avoidance education. Thank you for being there for us and for men and women like Kevin and Megan!
