A Botched Abortion Gives Life To A Family

William* was supposed to be aborted!

Donna* looks into her son’s face every day and thanks God for giving him life.

Most of us have had similar moments of gratitude while watching a child we love play, learn to read, or just peacefully sleep. Donna’s appreciation goes especially deep because her son, William, was supposed to be aborted.

When Donna discovered she was pregnant fear gripped her heart and mind. She was convinced she could not go through with the pregnancy and abortion seemed to be the only option that made sense. Although a bit reluctant, Donna “dutifully” scheduled the appointment and had the procedure.

Donna’s appreciation goes especially deep because her son, William, was supposed to be aborted.

It wasn’t long, however, before she knew something was wrong. Donna continued to feel considerable discomfort well beyond the standard recovery period. But instead of returning to the abortion clinic, Donna wisely chose to visit the Pregnancy Resource Center for solid information on what to do next.

A pregnancy test and ultrasound at the PRC revealed the astonishing news – Donna was still pregnant! The size of her baby and the date of the procedure confirmed that the abortion had been botched. In the hours that followed, the compassionate, patient staff of the PRC walked Donna through the shock of this discovery. She then received instruction from one of the nurses regarding prenatal care, including a free supply of vitamins.

In time, Donna delivered a healthy baby boy who miraculously showed no signs of trauma whatsoever! In spite of the attempted abortion, God’s hand protected baby William. The One who knit this life together in the womb would not let it be taken.

Donna and Scott are not perfect, but rather than respond with condemnation, the PRC staff used Jesus’ many examples of love and met this couple “right where they were.”

William’s physical salvation became a seed of faith that began to sprouted in Donna’s heart, providing a newfound commitment to Christ.

Recently, Donna gave birth to a second boy, and brought her sons, along with their father, Scott,* to an appointment at our Family Services office in Wyoming.

This precious couple reminds us of those to whom Jesus ministered: the woman who touched the hem of His robe, the woman at the well, and the woman caught in adultery.

Our staff compassionately prayed with them, thanking God for saving Donna’s child and asking Him to continue to protect and direct their paths as a family.

After this prayer, the time with Donna and Scott turned a corner. They opened up to their counselor who challenged them with God’s design for marriage. The couple enthusiastically responded, expressing their desire to pray together and study God’s word! They were beginning to realize the responsibility that is theirs to grow in Christ and be an example of faith to their children.

Before leaving, Donna and Scott received all the baby items and clothing they needed. But perhaps more importantly, they were connected to a church where they can grow together spiritually as a family.

It’s exciting to see at God work in Donna and Scott, and He is using the PRC to guide them!

We’re glad to be the hands and feet of Jesus, who challenges and loves His little ones! We understand that the PRC’s long-standing relationship with Donna has built a platform of trust and a bridge to the God who loves her.

In fact, If the PRC were not there, Donna may have completed the abortion of baby William, and missed many other blessings God has for her.

THANK YOU for being there for Donna, and the thousands of other women and families we serve each year! Because of God’s grace as well as your faithful prayers and financial support, the Pregnancy Resource Center will continue to hear, see, and love those in our community right where they are!
